You may all have guessed by now, but my kitty is my family. I love this small beast so much! Twinkle Toes is a teenager, and I monitor her health closely as I want her to live as long as possible. My goal is to catch disease processes early. I also want her to live in comfort despite her advancing arthritis. Arthritis is a topic near and dear to my heart as my sweetie has severe arthritis. Sometimes pet owners are unaware of arthritis or other diseases in their senior pets. They may think Fluffy is "just getting old". Whether it is arthritis, hypothyroidism, heart issues or early metabolic disease, we at TVC know that simple changes might put some spring back in the step of aging pets.
I’ve decided to make a Geriatric Package for client animals. These are the tests I perform on my own beloved pet every year. To encourage folks to be pro-active, I’m offering a significant discount compared to if these tests were run individually. This package is for our top tier clients who want everything for their darling pets. You get a big discount for the package (compared to regular a la carte price if tests were run individually). Additionally, we will grant a $100 discount on a dental packages if we perform a dental within 3 months of performing the senior package!
Geriatric exam package includes
Senior blood profile of chemistry profile, CBC, T4 screening thyroid test, Urinalysis with reflex protein creatinine ratio, heartworm testing and cardiac BNP (The cardiac BNP is an enzyme that increases with abnormal stretch of heart muscle.)
Ultrasound examation (abdominal ultrasound screen, TFAST heart screen, VetBlue surface lung exam). Particularly if your pet has a heart murmur this geriatric package is a bargain because our Dr Bill Moore is particularly good at ultrasound! We typically charge $200 for Dr Bill to perform an ultrasound.
Radiographs to assess for arthritis and other abnormalities (We particularly want to know if your pet has arthritis as we could make your pet more comfortable with safe and holistic supplements and medications.) This amounts to numerous xrays for dogs, fewer xrays for cats.
Nail trim, ear clean
Anal sac expression for dogs (We don't offend cats with this item.)
Butorphanol and midazolam (light sedation IF NEEDED to facilitate Xrays and ultrasound exam)
Fecal floatation and fecal antigen testing
Blood pressure check
Tonometry (glaucoma check) for dogs (Glaucoma is rare in cats.)
The price for doing all the above is doing all the above items is only $600 for dogs and $500 for cats.
Perhaps the best of all, if you choose a geriatric package, we will knock $100 off a dental package if the dental is performed within 3 months of the geriatric package.
If you wish for your pet to get the “Geriatric Package”, please call the clinic and make an appointment. We will block off one hour on day one and 2 hours on day two to accomplish this long list of testing. All of our doctors can perform the testing, but Dr Bill is stellar with ultrasound, so we book the senior care IMAGING when he is working. On DAY ONE we do the initial exam, the collect the samples, do the examination and tests. On DAY TWO we take xrays and perform the ultrasound examination and go over all the lab results.
Since we are pulling blood and doing ultrasound, we prefer the pet has not had breakfast the day of the senior exams.
Helpful hints: Be sure to bring us stool for the senior exam. Since we are pulling blood and doing ultrasound, we prefer the pet has not had breakfast the day of the senior exam.
We are excited to be on the forefront of gerontology for pets!
