Dr. Javiera Correa

Dr Javiera Correa

I was born and raised on the west coast of Florida. I have wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 4 years old. I grew up with 6 West Highland White Terriers and have a passion for little dogs.

I received my Bachelor's of Science degree in both Biology and Mathematics (double major) at Eckerd College. I then traveled across the world to New Zealand to attend Massey University Veterinary School, an AVMA accredited school. It was there where I found my husband. We started life after finishing school in the city of Christchurch. We survived the massive earthquakes but were forced to relocate.

I accepted an small animal emergency and rotating specialty internship in Richmond, Virginia. It was there where my passion for emergency and critical care medicine blossomed. After completing my internship, I worked in a 24 hour small animal emergency and specialty hospital in Cooper City for 5 years. I then transitioned to small animal general practice where I am able to see my patients grow and form life long relationships. It also allowed me to grow my own family as well. I am happily married and have 3 small children, 3 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, a cat, and soon to come... chickens!

  • "Tequesta Vet Clinic has rescued my boy-cat who was diagnosed with diabetes. The previous vet had him on an insulin regiment that was not in his best interest. Dr. Joi Sutton has been the most compassionate and educated veterinarian that I have had the pleasure of knowing. My cat, along with his brothers, who also have been under her care for dental work, have immensely benefited by seeing her. Not only do my boys get VIP treatment, they are sent home “very thankful.” This makes me immensely happy and assured my pets are in good hands."
